DANVERS — Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School has received a $340,000 donation from an Essex Tech alumnus to support several of the school’s career pathways and ensure students are trained with up-to-date equipment.

The donation is the largest gift from an individual in the school’s history, and the donor requested to remain anonymous.

Essex Tech administration conducted a needs assessment in each career pathway to determine how to use the donation.

“This generous donation spans multiple career technical-education programs, all of which are in need of a highly skilled workforce,” Superintendent Heidi Riccio said. “Through this support, our students will have access to updated technology and equipment that will prepare them to be ahead of the curve in their field.”

The donation will allow those who attend Essex Tech to expand their skill set and enhance their knowledge while using the latest technology.

Multiple areas of study will benefit from this donation, with $6,100 going to auto collision for a millermatic welder; $26,200 to construction for multiport sequential chargers, cordless tool kits with a drill, driver and saw, masonry saws, and pipe-threading machines for plumbing; $38,500 to dental assisting for radiology equipment; $7,500 to health assisting for a Graham field synergy 1000 multi-position, four-rail bed with mattress; $48,000 to the Tech’s evening Nighthawks’ advanced-manufacturing program for laptop carts; $30,579 to advanced manufacturing for a simulator area for computer numerical-control programming, a coordinate measuring machine, and an optical comparator; $12,000 to Nighthawks and partnership health assisting for CPR mannequins and automated external defibrillators; $75,000 to transportation for cameras; and $40,000 to engineering for electronic testers.
