PEABODY — Celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day at the Black Box Theater, which will be providing a variety of entertainment all weekend for couples and singles alike.
“We have a wonderful weekend of entertainment planned for Valentine’s Day – something for everyone,” said Theater Manager Lisa Geczi. “We have carefully selected a variety that appeals to all audiences; favorites of both our returning patrons and something to wow the new.”
On Friday, Feb. 11, Summer Orlando Productions and the Black Box will welcome back to the stage New England’s No. 1 Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand star-impersonator duo for a night of Drag Queen Bingo. The organizers are promising an unconventional, wild and crazy evening of music, comedy, drag performances and bingo for patrons ages 21 and older. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m.
Saturday night, Feb. 12, will be filled with laughter as a local North Shore improv group, Accidentally on Purpose, will take the stage at the Black Box for the seventh time. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8 p.m.
On Valentine’s Day, on Monday, the Black Box Theater will host two shows at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with Tony DeMeglio as Young Sinatra. DeMeglio is one of New York City’s premier Frank Sinatra impersonators and crooners.
His show will feature singing and dancing to the delight of the sellout crowd, the Black Box said.
The Black Box Theater offers an intimate setting with safe seating options at all shows, sections and tables for larger groups and VIP reserved seating and private beverage service for couples looking to make it a special evening. Parking in surrounding parking lots is free.
Founded by Northeast Arc, an organization that serves people with disabilities, children at risk of developing them and their families, the theater is located at ArcWorks Community Art Center at 22 Foster St., just off Peabody Square/Main Street. It is surrounded by walkable dining options and local bars.
