The Peabody girls basketball team crossed one key item off of its checklist for the 2021-22 season Tuesday night, picking up its 10th win of the season and locking up a spot in the state tournament following a 53-40 victory over Northeastern Conference foe Beverly.
Logan Lomasney led the Tanners at both ends of the floor, notching a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Taylor Bettencourt added 12 points and seven assists, while Jess Richards, Emma Bloom and Lauryn Mendonca all played well in the victory.
Peabody (10-1) hosts Saugus Friday (7).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynn Tech 54, Greater Lawrence 26
The Tigers got a big performance from Dayana Hios-Edwards, who finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Nyari Lane-Benjamin notched 12 points and seven steals, while Jayleen Novas had 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Aliyah Volquez added eight points, while Lilly Cote had six points and four steals.
Tech (5-4) hosts Academy of Notre Dame Thursday (5:30).
Lynn English 63, Medford 41
Makenzie Acevado led the way for the Bulldogs in the win with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Rosie Chheang notched 13 points and six steals. Jari Perez had 11 points and five rebounds, Amara Flores had 10 points and six rebounds, Jaeleigh Perry had eight points and eight rebounds and Alisha Jean had seven rebounds and five steals.
English (8-2) travels to Revere Thursday (6).
Revere 45, Lynn Classical 36
The Patriots were led by Carolina Bettero’s 13 points, while Elaysia Lung was right behind with 12 points and Belma Velic just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
Revere (7-4) hosts English Thursday (6).
For the second game in a row, Lauren Hennessey was the leading scorer for the Rams after notching 11 points.
Classical (9-3) hosts Medford Thursday (7).
St. Mary’s 64, Bishop Feehan 48
Yirsy Queliz once again led the Spartans with 21 points, while Kellyn Preira was close behind with 17 points and Niya Morgen added 13 points. Olivia Abbott scored seven points for the Spartans.
St. Mary’s (14-2) hosts Archbishop Williams Friday (6:30).
Bishop Fenwick 60, Austin Prep 34
Fenwick’s two starting forwards — senior captain Nasha Arnold and sophomore Cecilia Kay — both picked up double-doubles in the win, with Arnold notching 17 points and 12 rebounds and Kay following with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Senior captain Olivia Found added 13 points and four steals.
Fenwick (8-3) travels to Bishop Stang Saturday (6:30).
Winthrop 55, Salem 33
Kaylee Farrell led the Vikings with 21 points in the victory, while Grace Fleuriel added 12 points.

Saugus 42, Danvers 34
The Sachems had a balanced scoring attack with contributions from Ella Castle (10 points), Peyton DiBiasio (eight points), Fallon Millerick (seven points), Ashley Aldred (six points) and Ashleen Escobar (six points).

Swampscott 53, Gloucester 24
Senior Sophie DiGrande led all scorers with 24 points in the win, while Chloe Rakauskas added 10 points. Paige Quagrello finished with six points and eight rebounds.
Swampscott (7-2) has a quick turnaround with a game against Manchester-Essex Wednesday (7).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lynn English 65, Medford 53
Tyrese Melo Garcia had a big game in the win for the Bulldogs, notching 28 points to go along with five rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. Yael Vizcaino added 11 points in the win, while Jesse Maggs notched 10 points. Nelson Obarisiagbon recorded 12 rebounds.
English (8-2) hosts Revere Thursday (7).
St. Mary’s 52, Bishop Feehan 46
The Spartans kept their Catholic Central League record unblemished with a home victory Tuesday.
Omri Merryman was the top scorer for St. Mary’s with 20 points.

Despite the loss, Fenwick senior Jason Romans put up a massive triple-double with 17 points, 15 rebounds, 10 steals and five assists. Nate Allder added four points off the bench.

St. John’s Prep 61, Xaverian 49
The Eagles picked up their third win in a row behind 23 points from Mike O’Brien. Jack Perry notched 12 points, while Kyle Webster scored nine points.

Beverly 61, Peabody 49
Luke Roan scored 17 points to lead the way in the loss for the Tanners, while Anthony Forte scored 13 points. Shea Lynch picked up nine points.

Treston Abreu led the way with 18 points, while Darlin Santiago was close behind with 17 points. Angel Tejada added 13 points in the win.

The Sachems were led by Tyrone Manderson’s 18 points, while Ben Tapia-Gately was close behind with 14 points and Ryan Mabee added 11 points.

The Big Blue picked up their third win in a row behind 24 points from Evan Roth. Mick Ross added 12 points in the win, while Ryan Ward scored 11 points and Cam O’Brien notched eight points as well as leading the team in rebounds and assists.

Jaythean Im notched 18 points and six rebounds in the loss, while Piero Canales notched 12 points and seven rebounds.

GIRLS HOCKEY
Winthrop 5, Latin Academy 1
Emma Holmes led the way for the Vikings with three goals in the win, while Hannah Parker scored the other two goals. Talia Martucci notched three assists, while Lily Tallent and Sami DiMento each had one assist. Goalie Summer Tallent made 18 saves to secure the win in net.
Winthrop (8-0-1) travels to Shawsheen Saturday morning (11).

Marblehead 88, Swampscott 70
The Magicians got wins from Cole Brooks in the 100 backstroke (57.02), Logan Doody in the 100 freestyle (53.25) and Clementine Robins in the 500 freestyle (5:10.30).
