To the editor:
The City of Lynn is making a huge mistake by eliminating the residency requirement to work in the city.
We have more than enough qualified candidates for these jobs. In City Hall, assistants to the department heads act as the department head when the department head is out sick for so many days or on vacation.
These people deserve to be able to move up, not get pushed aside for a person who will only move to the city because they are forced to and more than likely will spend the money they earn each and every week from the city somewhere else. Put pride back into Lynn hiring and promote from within the city limits.
I lived in Lynn for almost 60 years and never thought of moving. I always took pride in the city.
