The St. Mary’s boys basketball team made its quest to win a Catholic Central League title just a little bit easier Friday night, picking up a key league win with a 62-46 victory over Archbishop Williams on the road.
David Brown Jr. led the scoring attack for the Spartans with 19 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Ali Barry also had a solid night with 13 points. Nick Sacco chipped in eight points and seven rebounds.
St. Mary’s (15-1) hosts Cardinal Spellman Tuesday evening (6:30).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Peabody 65, Saugus 50 (OT)
After Saugus hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime, the Tanners took over and rolled to a victory in extra time.
Luke Roan put up a massive double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Colin Berube added 12 points and six rebounds. Shea Lynch notched 11 points, six rebounds and five steals, while Anthony Forte picked up eight points, five assists and five steals.
Peabody (8-4) plays on the road at Swampscott Tuesday (7).
For the Sachems, Jeury Barbosa led the way in scoring for the second straight night with 16 points. Tyrone Manderson scored 12 points in the loss, while Ryan Mabee added 11 points.
Saugus (6-4) travels to Manchester-Essex Monday (6:30).
Malden Catholic 92, St. John’s Prep 56
Jack Angelopolus led the way for the Eagles with 14 points in the loss, while Jacob Mercedes added 12 points. Mike O’Brien contributed 10 points and Jack Perry scored seven.

KIPP 69, Northeast 47
Osaru Evbenaye led the way for the Panthers with a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Vic Mafo notched 22 points and seven assists.

Swampscott 66, Marblehead 60
After starting off the season at 2-4, the Big Blue picked up their fifth consecutive win when they knocked off the Magicians at home Friday.
Evan Roth led the scoring charge with 20 points, while Cam O’Brien scored 12 points and nearly had a triple-double. Ryan Ward also scored 12 points, while Max Brodsky added 11 points.
Swampscott (7-4) hosts Peabody Tuesday (7).
Marblehead (5-5) hosts Danvers Tuesday (7).
Salem 53, Salem Academy 36
The Witches celebrated their Senior Night by guaranteeing themselves a spot in the upcoming state tournament with their win.
Treston Abreu was the team’s top scorer with 19 points, while Darlin Santiago notched 14 points and Jack Doyle scored nine points.
Salem (10-2) hosts Beverly Tuesday (7).
Winthrop 68, Gloucester 62
Junior Zach Bogusz kept his hot hand and picked up 25 points, while senior captains Chris Cappuccio (15 points) and Luca Zanelli (12 points) also had big games. Mikey Chaves added 11 points in the win.

St. Mary’s 65, Archbishop Williams 27
The Spartans continued their dominant run through the Catholic Central League with a blowout victory at Tony Conigliaro Gymnasium Friday.
Yirsy Queliz led the way with 21 points in the win, while Niya Morgen added 14 points.
St. Mary’s (15-2) travels to Cardinal Spellman Tuesday (6:30).
Lynn Tech 70, Fellowship 31
Dayana Hios-Edwards had another big game for the Tigers with 18 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Jayleen Novas was close behind with 16 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Lilly Cote notched eight points, four rebounds and two steals. Nyari Lane-Benjamin finished with eight points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Grace Fleuriel led the scoring attack with 16 points, while Maddie Stiglets notched 12 points.

Lynn Tech 95, Greater Lawrence 74
Picking up wins for the Tigers were Alberto Gerardo in diving and the 100 freestyle, Jeremiah Arozala in the 50 freestyle, Chris Gutierrez in the 100 breaststroke, Mario Rivera in the 200 individual medley and Brandon Zarate in the 500 freestyle. In the relay events, the team of Arozala, Gutierrez, Zarate and Rashaud Newhall won the 200 medley relay and the team of Gerard, Rivera, Zarate and Colin Donovan won the 400 freestyle relay.
Revere 86, Lynn Classical 78
The Rams got wins from Sydney Finnigan in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Merdi Ifufa finished second in the 100 butterfly, Camille Mendonca finished second in the 100 freestyle and Daniel Puma finished second in the 100 breaststroke.
