To the editor:
Editor’s note: The mayor’s office deferred on commenting on the letter writer’s call to the office.
I am writing because of a very thoughtless plow driver. First let me say, we appreciate what they do.
On the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 2, I awoke at about 3:30 a.m. to the scraping of plows going down Walnut Street. I couldn’t imagine why because it had not snowed. When I got up around 7 a.m., I looked out to see that a plow had pushed snow right up to my car at the end of the driveway. It was about three feet high.
We had paid someone $400 to shovel us out Saturday evening and arranged for them to return on Sunday, to shovel again.
Three days after the storm, the city decided to widen the street, and boxed in our car with no access to the house. I called the mayor’s office and spoke with a staff member who said the city had to widen the street.
I know we should feel fortunate that we don’t have the problems some people have, but taxes keep going up.
