The Marblehead boys basketball team jumped out to a big halftime lead and never looked back Monday night, picking up a 55-39 win over Winthrop in a Northeastern Conference battle.
It was a full team effort on the offensive side of the ball for the Magicians, which had 10 players score in the victory. Senior Kipp Schauder and junior Tyrone Countrymon both had strong games for the Magicians.
Marblehead (8-5) travels to Salem Tuesday (7).
Winthrop (7-8) hosts Swampscott Tuesday (7).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Somerville 62, KIPP 42
Osaru Evbenaye had 19 points to lead the way in the loss for the Panthers, while Vic Mafo scored 16 points.
KIPP (3-7) plays on the road at Greater Lawrence Thursday (5:30).
Swampscott 84, Northeast 46
The Big Blue picked up their eighth win in a row with the road victory Monday.
Ryan Ward led the way with 21 points for Swampscott, while Evan Roth scored 15 points and Cam O’Brien added 14 points. Max Brodsky (12 points) and Liam Wales (11 points) also played well in the win.
Swampscott (10-4) will play its third game in as many days Tuesday night (7) against Winthrop.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynn English 56, Revere 45
The Bulldogs picked up a key win in the Greater Boston League Monday night behind big performances from two sophomore forwards. Jaeleigh Perry remained hot with a stat line of 24 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Alisha Jean added a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds to go along with seven steals.
English (12-2) plays on the road at rival Lynn Classical Tuesday (7).
For the Patriots, Haley Belloise led the way with 15 points and Skyla DeSimone added 12 points and four assists.
Revere (9-6) hosts Malden Wednesday (6).
Saugus 51, Gloucester 33
Peyton DiBiasio had a big night with 20 points for the Sachems, while Fallon Millerick wasn’t far behind with 14 points. Ella Castle added 10 points in the win.
Saugus (9-5) has a quick turnaround with a game against Beverly Tuesday (6:30).
BOYS HOCKEY
Lynnfield 5, Medford 0
Chase Carney continued his incredible offensive season by notching three goals and one assist, while linemate Aidan Burke added one goal and one assist. Jarret Scoppettuolo scored his first goal of the season, while Drew Damiani notched two assists. Will Steadman and Lucas Cook each had one assist, while goalie Evan Fitzmeyer picked up the shutout win in net.
Lynnfield (13-2-0) plays on the road at Pentucket Wednesday (7).
