Lynn distributing free at-home COVID tests on Friday

LYNN — The city is distributing free at-home COVID-19 tests on Friday, Feb. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m., in the parking lot of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute.

To receive the iHealth Labs rapid antigen test kits, proof of Lynn residency will be required. This can include a driver’s license, state ID, utility bill, health-insurance bill, cable bill or cell-phone bill.

Entry to the parking lot will be from Neptune Boulevard, exiting out to Blossom Street, and both walk-through and drive-through entry is permitted.

Test kits will be distributed on a one-per-person basis.

After receiving the test kit, it should be stored at home in room-temperature conditions until used.

These tests do not require a cellphone or computer to use, and results are provided after 15 minutes.

The tests are for individuals 2 years of age and older, regardless of vaccination status or whether they have symptoms.

Test results do not need to go to a laboratory or be reported to the local Public Health Department, but people who test positive should be isolated for five days, regardless of vaccination status, and inform their close contacts that they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

In addition to this test-kit distribution, the city will also be distributing kits to organizations that serve vulnerable populations.

If your organization, or one you are familiar with, is interested in volunteering to assist in these efforts, visit https://forms.gle/4uTJ9ejPtDKRB5qcA. Authorized personnel from organizations should fill out this form, not individuals.

“We recognize this is a short turnaround time,” states a city press release. “We recently received the kits and want to ensure they reach the people as quickly as possible. We also intend to have further distribution days as necessary. We’d like to get these kits out into the community as soon as possible, and we ask for the public’s help in spreading the word about this distribution.”
