LYNN — Registered Democrats in the city will hold a virtual caucus via Zoom on March 9 to elect delegates and alternates to the 2022 MassDems Convention.
Delegates will be selected to attend the convention on June 3 and 4 at the DCU Center in Worcester, where they will vote on which candidate to endorse for statewide offices ahead of the September Democratic Primary.
Alternates are selected in case a delegate is unable to appear at the convention. The convention will be designed as a hybrid model with both an in-person and online option.
Registered and pre-registered Lynn Democrats who will be at least 16 years old by Feb. 4 will be allowed to participate in the caucus and run as a delegate or alternate.
The number of delegates eligible for election is as follows: Ward 1, eight; Ward 2, seven; Ward 3, eight; Ward 4, six; Ward 5, seven; Ward 6, six; and Ward 7, eight. Four alternates per ward will be elected.
Those ages 16-35, people with disabilities, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community not elected as delegates or alternates are encouraged to apply to be add-on delegates at the caucus by visiting massdems.org/convention by 5 p.m on April 9.
Candidates for delegates and alternates must be present at the virtual caucus and consent to nomination.
