LYNN — The rich history of Lynn English’s track program has added a new chapter in the school’s first season in the Greater Boston League (GBL).

The Bulldogs’ girls indoor team, led by coach Brenda Martin, will bring four team members — senior Kendra Malcolm, junior Victoria Samuel, senior Amy Gutierrez and junior Aida Bellal — to states on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Arena in Boston.

Malcolm and Samuel will compete in the 55-meter dash and they, along with Gutierrez and Bellal will compete in the 4-by-200 relay.

“I am very proud of Kendra and Victoria and all of the dedicated young women on this year’s indoor-track team,” Martin said. “They are really focused on training and their hard work is paying off. I am privileged to coach what I believe is one of the best English indoor-track teams of all time.”

Malcolm qualified with a time of 7.45 seconds in winning the 55-meter dash at the GBL meet held this past Monday. Samuel also qualified with a time of 7.88 seconds at Monday’s GBL meet.

The 4-by-200 relay team made up of Malcom, Samuel, Gutierrez and Bellal qualified with a time of 1:59 at Monday’s meet.

In addition, Cynaya Jackson, a junior, won the shot put at the GBL meet with a throw of 27-5.

The Bulldogs finished the season 3-3, in third place overall at the league meet.
