Family and friends are remembering Lynn native Phyllis (Henry) Kenerson, who died a year ago on Feb. 19, 2021.
Born and raised in Lynn, Kenerson graduated from English High School and raised her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her house on Dartmouth Street.
In her free time, Kenerson worked at the Blueberry Patch — and made a delicious blueberry cobbler — volunteered at Union Hospital, and was a dedicated member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
“She was a caregiver to many throughout her lifetime, and was admired by all who knew her for her loving spirit,” said her granddaughter Christine Langlois. “Her door was always open, welcoming anyone into her home for freshly-baked cookies and conversation.”
Kenerson, known by many as “Nonnie,” loved her family and was happiest spending time with them. Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother meant everything to her and she made sure to attend every game, school event, graduation, birthday party and holiday party so that she could make more memories with those she loved.
She was always baking cookies and treats for her family and friends in the neighborhood. Her backyard doubled as a baseball, soccer and kickball field to the neighborhood kids, who she always made sure had plenty of snacks and water.
She made sure to mingle and check in on her friends, family and neighbors, and always put others first.
Kenerson’s children, Stephen Kenerson and his wife Eileen, and David Kenerson and his wife Lisa; her granddaughter, Christine Langlois and her husband Jon; her great-grandchildren, Cameron and Riley; her brother, Charles Henry and his wife Janet; the Dunnigans, who were her neighbors for 29 years but considered her family; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends are remembering and honoring her life every day, but especially this weekend.
