LYNNFIELD — The state’s Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Division (HazMat) is investigating a possible gas leak that resulted in the deaths of two pet birds on Sunday.
Lynnfield Fire Chief Glenn Davis said his department received a call at about 4 p.m. from a resident of 4 Joseph Lane, regarding the sudden death of her two pet birds. He said the caller suspected that the animals died from a gas leak.
Davis said he and other members and the Fire Department arrived at the home within moments of the call to search for the possible leak. He said crews did not find anything, but notified the state’s HazMat team, which is conducting an investigation into the matter.
“This was an isolated incident and there were no injuries or hospitalizations,” said Davis.
The incident remains under investigation.
