The final score may have been closer than the Marblehead boys basketball team had wanted, but in the end the Magicians came out on the winning side of things after hanging on to grab a 59-57 victory over Masconomet in the championship game of the Larry McIntire IAABO Board 130 Classic Monday night.
Tyrone Countrymon led the way for the Magicians, finishing the game with 19 points, four rebounds and four assists in the win. Countrymon, who scored 26 points in the opening round game, was named Tournament MVP.
Kipp Schauder, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, added 14 points in the victory.
Marblehead (12-7) closes out its regular season Wednesday afternoon (1) at home against Bellingham.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lynn Tech 55, Mystic Valley 46
The Tigers were led by a huge double-double from Ederick Gonzalez, who finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds while also adding five steals. Andre Young added 16 points and seven rebounds in the win.
Tech (3-15) closes out the season Wednesday (4:30) on the road at Concord-Carlisle.
St. John’s Prep 60, Haverhill 42
Mike O’Brien led the offensive attack for the Eagles with 21 points, while Jack Perry added 13 points. Kyle Webster also had a solid game with 12 points in the win.
St. John’s Prep (10-10) closes out its regular season Wednesday (6) on the road at Malden.
Saugus 65, Manchester-Essex 60
Behind a 25-point effort from Tyrone Manderson, the Sachems got revenge from an earlier loss this season.
Ryan Mabee added 13 points in the win, while Ryan Anderson hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. Ben Tapia-Gately scored 10 points.
Saugus (8-11) wraps up its regular season Wednesday (1) on the road at Swampscott.

Consolation Game
Gloucester 73, Bishop Fenwick 69
For Fenwick, All-Tournament Team selection and Larry McIntire Scholarship winner Jason Romans led the Crusaders with 18 points. Sophomore guard James Meklis added seven points in the loss.
Fenwick (9-10) hosts Archbishop Williams Thursday (2) in its regular season finale.

Nathan Reyes was selected to the All-Tournament Team for the Rams.
Classical finishes out the season with a 7-14 record.

Tyrese Melo Garcia continued his incredible run of scoring despite the loss, notching 34 points for the Bulldogs. In the past two games, Garcia — who was selected to the All-Tournament Team — has scored a whopping 77 points.
English (12-6) closes out the regular season Wednesday (3) on the road at Revere.
General Patton Tournament
North Reading 52, Revere 45
Senior tri-captain James Clauto led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds, while fellow senior tri-captain Jack D’Ambrosio was close behind with 12 points and six rebounds.
Revere (9-10) is right back in action Tuesday (TBD) against Hamilton-Wenham/Arlington Catholic in the consolation game of the Patton Tournament.

All-Tournament Team selection Molly Cronin nailed a 3-pointer in the final 30 seconds to give the host Magicians the victory. Cronin finished with nine points, while Catherine Comstock led the winning team with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ella Kramer and Samantha Dormer each added six points.
Marblehead wraps up its regular season at 12-8 and awaits its seeding in the upcoming state tournament.
BOYS HOCKEY
St. John’s Prep 4, Masconomet 3
The Eagles had four different goal scorers in the win, with Will Van Sicklin, Pierce Blaeser, Jake Vana and Cam Umlah each finding the back of the net. Christian Rosa added two assists in the win, while goalie Peyton Palladino notched 17 saves to earn the win in net.
St. John’s Prep (16-3-0) plays its regular season finale Wednesday (3:10) at home against Bridgewater-Raynham.

Winthrop (9-9-1) closes out the regular season with a home game against Saugus Wednesday (3:30).
