School Sports Roundup: Lynn English falls to Revere to close season

The Lynn English boys basketball team is still tournament-bound, but the Bulldogs couldn’t get a win to close out the regular season after going on the road and falling to Revere by a score of 72-63 in a Greater Boston League matchup.

For English, Tyrese Melo Garcia continued his stellar season in the loss with 36 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. 

English wraps up the season at 13-7 and awaits its seeding in the upcoming state tournament. 

Revere finishes the season at 9-10 and will be on the bubble in terms of qualifying for a tournament spot.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bishop Fenwick 72, Nauset 48

Sophomore forward Cecilia Kay had a massive day in the victory on the road, putting up a double-double with 32 points and 12 rebounds. 

Senior captain Maria Orfanos had a great game with 17 points and five assists, while senior captain Nasha Arnold put up a double-double of her own with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Bishop Fenwick finishes up at 17-6 and now looks ahead to the state tournament next week.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Matignon 1, Bishop Fenwick 0 (OT)

Despite the loss, goalie Ella Tucker put together an impressive performance in net for the Crusaders.

Bishop Fenwick wraps up the season at 9-9-2 and now waits to be seeded in the upcoming state tournament. 

Hingham Hockey Showcase

Duxbury 3, St. Mary’s 1

The lone goal for the Spartans was scored by Amanda Forziati, while Gabbi Oakes and Gianna Young each had one assist. 

St. Mary’s closes out the season at 12-7-3 and now waits for the state tournament brackets to be released this weekend.
