The 36th annual Massachusetts All-State Track Meet took place over the weekend at Reggie Lewis Track Center, and a number of local runners put together impressive performances in the final meet of the season.
Of particular note was the performance of the Peabody boys and girls teams, as the Tanners had a number of athletes from both squads finish well.
On the boys side, senior Logan Tracia — who was recently named the Northeastern Conference Track Athlete of the Year — had the highest finish of any local runner when he finished third overall in the 1000-meter with a time of 2:33.02.
Also grabbing top-10 finishes for the Tanners were Peter Gardikas — who finished sixth overall in the shot put with a distance of 52 feet, 6 1/2 inches — and Brendan Smith — who finished ninth overall in the shot put with a distance of 50-10 3/4.
On the girls side for Peabody, the Tanners were led by a sixth place finish from Lindsey Wilson in the high jump (5-2). Also running well for the Tanners were Sarah DiVasta in the one-mile (16th place, 5:13.66), Brianna Ewansiha in the high jump (tie for 12th, 5-0) and Aaliyah Callahan in the shot put (19th place, 33-7 1/2).
St. John’s Prep also had a number of solid finishes on the boys side, with Tyee Ambrosh leading the way with a sixth place finish in the 300 (36.08). Also finishing well for the Eagles were Nathan Lopez in the one-mile (17th place, 4:25.58), Charlie Tuttle in the two-mile (10th place, 9:36.71), Lucas Carvalho in the 1000 (18th place, 2:37.37), Callum Brown in the high jump (tied for 18th place, 5-10) and Drew McStay in the high jump (tied for 18th place, 5-10).
Marblehead saw Schuyler Schmitt grab a top-10 finish in the high jump, finishing eighth with a height of 6-2.
Other local runners with solid finishes on the boys side included Revere’s JV Cunha in the 600 (11th place, 1:24.64), Swampscott’s Vincenzo Videtta in the high jump (13th place, 6-0), Brett O’Brien (tied for 18th place, 5-10), Swampscott’s Joey Do in the long jump (20-5) and Bishop Fenwick’s Wyatt Burr in the 1000 (26th place, 2:39.13).
Other local runners with solid finishes on the girls side included Revere’s Liv Yuong, who placed in a tie for 12th in the high jump (5-0).
