LYNN — Some of Boston’s biggest Irish comedy names will perform at the Lynn Auditorium on Friday at 8 p.m. for the Four Leaf Clover of Boston Comedy Show.
Mike McCarthy, Graig Murphy, Will Noonan and Christine Hurley are headlining the show, which will be hosted by comedian Pat Collins and feature live Irish music by Danny Gill and The Old Brigade, and a performance by Goulding School of Irish Step Dance.
Chris Flahive, from CPFProductions in Peabody, said they started doing shows like this in January of 2020, but were forced to stop when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
The Four Leaf Clover of Boston Comedy Show was originally scheduled to go on in March of 2020, and Flahive said everybody is looking forward to finally having the show and being back in person.
“They’re an awesome group of comics,” Flahive said. “They’re really cool to work with, so we’re looking to build back some momentum. We’re hoping this show kicks off well and we can take some of the bigger names away from Boston and bring them to Lynn.”
Flahive said they are excited to bring this show to Lynn, as the Auditorium is a great venue surrounded with great restaurants, and the North Shore is a great comedic area.
“We thought Lynn would be a good spot,” Flahive said. “The North Shore has a good amount of Irish people and comedy fans. This is the best area for comedy… with Giggles and Kowloon there seems to be some comedy fans.”
The four headliners have worked on shows together before, including a Cape Cod weekend in the Irish Village.
“They’ve all worked on that show and work together all over the place here and there,” Flahive said.
These in-person comedic shows were put on hold during the pandemic, forcing the comedians to host online and Zoom shows.
“For them, sitting in front of a laptop or desktop and not really hearing people’s responses and stuff was really different,” Flahive said.
CPFProductions also started hosting drive-in theater shows at the end of 2020, which he said were cool but also very different. Being able to perform live in-person shows again is great, Flahive said, now that they can feed off the laughter of the crowd again.
“Your laughter was like honks of horns, so it wasn’t like they could really hear the laughter,” he said. “It was definitely a huge challenge.”
