Letter: Public safety progress needed in Lynn

The Editors

March 9, 2022 by The Editors

To the editor:

Mayor Nicholson is taking positive steps in the right direction in major areas of Lynn.

One of these areas that interests me is a new senior center and continuing upgrades to the Grand Army of the Republic building. The preservation of Lynn’s history is important.

Another area of city government that is important is public safety. I hope that a new public-safety building on the Lynnway has not been placed on the back burner.

The building should be a full fire station, with a pump and truck and full crew, as well as a police substation.

With the amount of new commercial and residential construction taking place in and around this area, now is the time to move on this.

This writer remembers when Lynn was serviced by eight fire stations, eight pumps and four trucks. The Fire Department has fewer stations and equipment today and probably more requests for responses.

This discussion should be kept alive as part of the progress of Lynn.
