LYNN — Girls Inc. is hosting its 34th annual luncheon in person this year. The event was held remotely for the last two years.
The event will be at the Hilton DoubleTree in Danvers on Thursday, April 7 at 11:30 a.m. Community leaders, elected officials, businessmen and women, girls and supporters are all welcome to attend the event.
Hosting the event virtually for the past two years was very different, said Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn Deb Ansourlian, but they were still able to accomplish one of the most important things about the luncheon: giving the girls an opportunity to tell their stories and celebrate them, while lifting them up and letting them know how amazing they are.
“The celebration luncheon is always very fun, really lively and exciting, but this year especially to have it in person,” Ansourlian said. “We are looking forward to celebrating 80 years of inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold and we are so excited to welcome people back in person.”
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Stephanie J. Hull, president and CEO of Girls Inc. in New York City.
Before joining Girls Inc., Hull was the executive vice president and chief operating officer at the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.
She was also previously the head of the Brearley School and has held various leadership and management positions at Mount Holyoke College and Dartmouth College.
Hull has a Ph.D. and an A.M. from Harvard University as well as a B.A. from Wellesley College.
“The afternoon promises to offer insight and inspiration as we hear from Dr. Hull, a thought leader and visionary,” said Ansourlian.
Emmy Award-winning anchor on NBC10 Boston Latoyia Edwards will emcee the event for the 10th time, which Ansourlian said they are really excited about.
There will also be an alumni speaker, a live performance from the elementary-school girls’ chorus, and girls in the program will speak about their journeys.
“At Girls Inc., we are helping the next generation of leaders find their voices, confidence and figure out what they want to do in the world,” Ansourlian said. “It is an opportunity for the girls to stand proud and tall and show how strong, smart and bold they are, and it’s our opportunity as staff and as community leaders and supporters to say ‘we appreciate you, we see you and we stand behind you in your next step and your next journey.'”
