Logan Tracia of Peabody High School has been named the Athlete of the Year for the 2021-22 Northeastern Conference indoor track season.
His coach with the Tanners, Fernando Braz, won the coveted Coach of the Year award for both girls and boys track.
Tracia, Michael Perez, Cam Collins and Shaun Conrad teamed up to take first place in the 4×400 relay at the NEC League Meet with an impressive 3:40.31 time. The 4×200 relay was also headlined by Peabody, where Daviel Canela, Alan Paulino, Yosker Batista and Eli Batista came in at 1:36.66.
Tracia also placed first in the 1000m run, finishing with a time of 2:35.91. Batista ran a 6.73 in the 55m dash to take first place, while Brendan Smith won the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, seven inches.
Swampscott had Vincenzo Videtta take home the win in the high jump with a 6-0, while Joey Do won the long jump with a 20-6 1/2.
Marblehead saw the team of Ben Kahnm, Peter Clifford, Oliver Buckhoff and Isaac Gross win the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:57.27.
Danvers had Colin Kelter take the 300m with a 37.98 and Mekonnen Eon in the one-mile with a 4:31.30. Gloucester’s Andrew Coelho won the 600m running a 1:27.92, and Masconomet’s Liam Gillespie won the 55m high hurdles with an 8.59.
On the girls side, Beverly’s Meredith Pasquarosa won the Athlete of the Year award. Pasquarosa won the 55m hurdles with 9.01. Beverly also had individual wins from Emily Young in the one-mile run with a 5:32.75 and Mia Kasperowicz in the two-mile run with an 11:56.21. The team of Kaitlyn Burgess, Izzy Sullivan, Pasquarosa and Jenna Schweizer won the 4×400 relay for Beverly with a 4:20.51. Allison Prasse, Emily Young, Olivia Young and Claire Brean also took home first place for the 4×800 relay with a 10:29.72
Peabody had Sarah DiVasta win the 1000m run with a 3:11.19, Savannah Vargas ran a 7.52 in the 55m dash, while Trinity Cabrera won the shot put with a 31-2 1/2.
Marblehead’s Kiera Sweetnam won the high jump with a 5-0 and Lydia Bailey won the 600m run with a 1:46.24. Gloucester’s Natalie Aiello won the long jump with a 14’7, while Danvers’ Arianna Bezanson won the 300m run with a 43.14.
