BOSTON — A 37-year-old Boston man was sentenced to seven years in prison Monday for robbing banks in Lynn, Revere and Concord, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
Angel Robles pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery on Oct. 4, 2021. As part of his sentence, his time in prison will be followed by three years of supervised release.
Robles admitted to robbing three banks and one store from August to November of 2020. The first such robbery occurred on Aug. 3, 2020; in this instance, Robles robbed a MetroPCS in Lynn at gunpoint, holding the weapon against the clerk’s back before stealing $4,000 from a safe and fleeing the store, prosecutors said.
On Oct. 17, 2020, Robles robbed a clothing store at the Northgate Shopping Plaza in Revere. In that instance, Robles and a co-conspirator stole five North Face jackets, which were valued at $1,500, prosecutors said.
Robles threatened a store clerk who tried to stop the robbery, saying that if anyone came at him, he was “going to shoot (expletive) up.”
After a second attempt to stop the robbery, Robles threatened to stab the clerk, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Robles robbed a Citizens Bank inside a Stop & Shop in Lynn on Oct. 28, 2020. He stole $5,000 and was seen on surveillance video brandishing what appeared to be a handgun.
On Nov. 9, 2020, Robles entered a Citizens Bank in Concord, gave the teller a note that read, “Robbery, only ready to die on a death wish,” and stole approximately $358 before fleeing the scene.
As part of his sentence, Robles was also ordered to pay restitution of $10,833.
