LYNN — The Lynn Tech swim team held its annual banquet late last week, and just like the years before, it was a memorable night for everyone involved.
The night was filled with laughter and smiles as the awards were being handed out to the kids and coaches, as well as a special guest appearance by former longtime coach Brad Tilley.
Tilley was given a plaque for his many years of wonderful service to the school, and to commemorate what a great role model he is for those kids.
Another way that Tilley was recognized at the banquet was the changing of the name of the Attendance Award to the Coach Tilley Cup. Tilley was able to present the award in his own honor to Tigers swimmers Addisyn Brown and Kailey Brown for their perfect attendance.
The awards didn’t stop there though, as Addisyn Brown, Aleya Hill and Sabrina Hong were recognized as the team’s top three swimmers for this year. Addisyn Brown also took home the girls MVP award, while Zakariya Bidoudane was selected as MVP for the boys.
The Coaches Award went to Jennifer Goncalves and Morgan Bourgeois, while Isabella Celona and Brandon Zarate won the Most Improved Award. The Diving Coach Award was given to Alberto Gerardo.
The Peter Sawin Unsung Hero Award was given to Kailey Brown and Christopher Angel Rodriguez. Hong and Colin Donovan took the Spirit Award home while Bourgeois and Logan Lindquist took home the Swim Booster award.
Aleya Hill, Heydi Perez, Mario Rivera, Kyle Lindquist, Alex Reddy and Hernan Reynoso all were awarded with the Tiger Award. This award goes to the seniors who are in co-op, but still come back and swim. The Blue and White Award was given to Rivera, Stephanie Torres and Michael Monbleau.
Three City of Lynn awards were handed out to Tech swimmers, with Bidoudane winning Male Swimmer of the Year. Addisyn Brown was given the John Cahill Award, while Hill won the Michael and Michelle Conlon Award.
Another part of the evening was dedicated to introducing next winter’s swim team captains — Colin Donovan, Sabrina Hong, Christopher Rodriquez, Stephanie Torres and Albert Gerardo.
With their year ending on a high note, between finishing the season at 4-0 and winning its division, the Lynn Tech swim team had a lot to celebrate at its annual banquet.
