LYNN — A minor car crash caused substantial damage to parked vehicles at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Lynn bus garage on Western Avenue on Friday morning.
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Transit Police officers responded to a radio call for a report of a motor vehicle accident at the MBTA Lynn bus garage at approximately 9 a.m. Friday, according to Superintendent of the Transit Police Department Richard Sullivan.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers noticed two females, both 19 years old, quickly walking away from the scene of the crash. There was also a witness present who yelled out to the officers that the two females were responsible for the car accident.
The officers determined that a 19-year-old female from Lynn was operating a 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser with one passenger at a high rate of speed southbound on Western Avenue. She attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control of her car and careened into the parking lot of the MBTA Lynn Bus Garage.
As a result, the Toyota crashed into three parked, unoccupied motor vehicles, substantially damaging all of them.
The officers discovered that the operator of the Toyota had a license with a false date of birth on it to make her appear older. Several unopened alcohol nip bottles were located in the vehicle as well.
The operator of the Toyota will be summoned to court for operating to endanger; speeding; minor in possession of alcohol; and forging/falsification of a driver’s license. The Toyota operator’s name was not made public by the police.
