To the editor:
The Swampscott Senior Tenants Association (SSTA) — whose members include the residents of Swampscott’s 122 public-housing units — strongly recommend the election of Charles Patsios to the open seat on the board of the Swampscott Housing Authority.
This is a critical vote for the future of our Housing Authority and its members.
By ignoring the maintenance needs of the Housing Authority for the last 60 years, Swampscott has never helped us push for additional renovations/upgrade funding, placing our residents in a vulnerable position.
Charlie Patsios is the person who can help rectify this situation. After careful thought, in-depth interviews and thorough background research, the SSTA believes that Charlie can help get the Housing Authority back on track.
His only agenda is to rectify the problems he has been made aware of that hinder the health, welfare and safety of our 84 elderly/disabled units and our 36 family units.
Charlie’s long Swampscott residence, history as a Town Meeting member, prior business experience, numerous state contacts and his past philanthropic endeavors place him in a unique position to help guide our small Housing Authority through the quagmire of expansion between the need for affordable and low-income units and those currently living in public housing.
We recommend his election without reservation.
