The Marblehead girls lacrosse team opened up its season against a tough Woburn team Thursday afternoon, falling by a score of 12-5 in a non-conference bout on the road.
Gigi Lombardi had two goals for the Magicians, while Hadley Wales, Lucy Wales and Isabelle Ferrante each scored one goal.
According to head coach Annie Madden, this young team is eager and willing to learn and improve.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Malden Catholic 20, Saugus 1
The lone goal was scored by senior Sophia Scalisi. Senior captain Elise Rego led the defense for Saugus.
The team’s potential is very strong, according to their coach Melissa Toomey, behind some very talented players.
Saugus (0-1) travels to Gloucester Monday (4).
GIRLS TENNIS
Malden Catholic 4, St. Mary’s 1
The Spartans’ lone win on the day came in doubles from the team of Olivia Egan and Sara Pitrone.
