LYNN — The Solimine Family purchased the business assets of the Nadworny Funeral Home on Thursday.

Established in 1958 by Richard C. Nadworny — who died this past October — Richard C. Nadworny Jr. joined his father in business in 1979 as an apprentice and became a fully-licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1981.

Nadworny Jr. said that over the years, he and his father have always had the highest regard for the Solimines and their entire staff, a staff which Nadworny Jr. will now be joining.

“With the passing of my dad this past October, my family and I decided that it was the right time for us to close our Western Avenue location,” Nadworny Jr. said.

All of the records of Nadworny Funeral Home will be maintained at the Solimine offices at 426 Broadway, while the Nadworny property at 798 Western Ave. will be sold to a local family to be repurposed.

Solimine Funeral Homes Manager Joel Solimine said they look forward to working with Nadworny Jr. in serving the families that have historically called on the Nadwornys in their times of need.

“Families that have pre-arranged their funeral services with Nadworny Funeral Home will have the option of using either one of our two funeral home locations,” Joel Solimine said.

The Solimine family has been in this business since 1965, when David Solimine Sr. established the Solimine Funeral Homes. David Solimine Jr. joined his father in business in 1976, and Joel Solimine joined in 2011, making him the third generation of the Solimine family in funeral service.

Nadworny Jr. said his family and the Solimines have always been good friends and he is pleased to be able to entrust his family firm over to them.

“On a personal note… Joel Solimine’s mom, Patricia (Szczechowicz) Solimine, was a bridesmaid in my sister Maura’s wedding,” Nadworny Jr. said. “On a professional level, my dad and I, along with Dave Sr., Dave Jr. and Joel Solimine have been collaborating and assisting one another for over 50 years.”

The Solimine Funeral Home at 426 Broadway was constructed in 1982 and the 67 Ocean St. location was purchased from the Rhodes family in 1984.

The Solimine family also purchased the former Landergan Funeral Home in 1996 and the former Richardson Funeral Home in 2003.
