Lynn’s best and brightest student-athletes were on display at Thurgood Marshall Middle School over the weekend, as the Lynn Elementary Basketball Tournament held its 7th annual All-Star Games.

The games, which pits players from East Lynn against those from West Lynn, also included skills competitions in both the boys and girls divisions.

First up, the girls faced off in an Around the World competition. Lynn Woods’ Tahlia Gallo took home the first trophy of the day with her stellar shooting.

Next up was the Girls Free Throw Contest. The winner once again came from the East Lynn squad, as Aborn’s Juliana Gerardo walked away with the hardware.

Then came the main event on the girls side, the All-Star Game. West Lynn’s balanced attack was able to pull out the 24-7 victory behind six points each from Lincoln-Thomson’s Blake Lundy and Drewicz’s Cassandra Miranda.

Sisson’s Arianna Karakoudas, Ingalls’ Karla Abreu and Shoemaker’s Rachel Osauwa each had a basket for East Lynn.

In the Boys Free Throw Contest, Hood’s Tyler McCarthy took the honors with his precision shooting.

The last skills competition of the day was the Boys 3-Point Shootout. Lynn Woods’ Drayko Phoutsakanh made quick work of the competition, hitting 14 out of his 15 shots from beyond the arc to run away with the title.

Finally, in what some called the most exciting game of the tournament, the West Lynn boys defeated East Lynn by a score of 30-27. Sewell-Anderson’s Makaid Pabon had 13 points for West Lynn, including the game-winner. Eric Romero and Carlito Ramirez chipped in four points each in the win. Aborn’s Trevin Bingham was East Lynn’s high scorer with eight points. His Aborn teammate, Mark Khivagheni, and Ingalls’ Angel Mela finished with four points each.
