PEABODY — The office of Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt Jr. has announced that the city’s annual spring cleanup will take place at the end of the month.
“Many of us who grew up in Peabody remember the deep feelings of pride which came with being part of this unique community,” Bettencourt said in a statement. “As mayor, I want a new generation to feel that their hometown is a special place to live, work, go to school and raise a family.”
The Pride in Peabody Spring Volunteer Community Cleanup will occur on Saturday, April 30, and will be held rain or shine, according to a release. Participants in this volunteer cleanup will also get a commemorative T-shirt for their volunteer efforts.
Cleanup volunteers should arrive at City Hall between 10 a.m. and noon to pick up cleaning supplies and their Pride in Peabody Community Cleanup T-shirt, which will be provided courtesy of JRM Hauling + Recycling. After this, cleanup volunteers will disperse to targeted areas across the city.
“Pride in Peabody cleanups are wonderful occasions to get together with family, friends and neighbors and do something positive and constructive towards making Peabody an even better place,” Bettencourt said. “After a long winter, the city needs a good spring cleaning, and it will get one on April 30.”
