McGee’s former chief of staff to join Lynn Community Health Center team

LYNN — The former chief of staff to former Mayor Thomas M. McGee has been appointed as the senior director of external relations and strategic communication at the Lynn Community Health Center.

Meaghen Hamill is a lifelong Lynn resident and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, with a minor in communications from Boston University, and has spent the last 11 years of her career focused on policy and community relations in the public sector.

Most recently, she was a senior advisor to Mayor Jared Nicholson and his team during their transition into office at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022.

Before that, she was the chief of staff for McGee, where she worked closely with the Lynn Community Health Center (LCHC) during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically as LCHC’s operational partner within the city in launching and maintaining a mass vaccination site in 2021.

Upon completion of her prior role with Nicholson, Hamill sought an opportunity to join LCHC, saying she is honored to join their team.

“I look forward to putting my skills and relationships to work for the Health Center, while having an opportunity to work for a social-justice-oriented organization that I have come to deeply respect and admire, and in whose future direction I am supremely confident,” Hamill said. “LCHC has been an integral care provider, employer, and advocate in service to the city of Lynn for over 50 years, and I am eager to usher in this next half century of care.”

LCHC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kiame Mahaniah said that the organization is very excited to have Hamill join them.

“LCHC is an integral piece of the health care landscape in Lynn, and we will continue growing the types of services we offer to the city,” said Mahaniah. “Having Meaghen on board will allow us to connect more closely with city stakeholders, participate more fully in the life of the city and ensure that we can hear what our community wants of us.”
