It was a 4-3 game heading into the bottom of the fifth before the Falcons scored four runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to run away with the win.

BOYS TENNIS

Medford 4, Lynn Classical 1

The lone winner for the Rams was Sammi Motassim in third singles, who took his match 7-5, 6-4.

Classical (1-2) hosts rival Lynn English Monday morning (10).

GIRLS TENNIS

Newburyport 5, Marblehead 0

The Magicians had three matches go to three sets, but Newburyport proved too strong in the end.

“The score did not reflect the closeness and the quality of the matches,” said Marblehead coach Tracy Ackerman. “Our doubles teams have shown great improvements in the last two weeks. Three of the four players do not have any varsity experience, so I expect them to get better and better as the season goes on. It should be fun to watch.”

Marblehead (1-1) hosts Peabody Wednesday (4).
