LYNN — One of the premier boxing events in the region is coming to Lynn next week, as Private Jewels Fitness and Private Jewels Boxing Club, Inc. will be hosting some of the top fighters in the country at the annual New England King of the Ring Championship.
The event, which will be held at the Boys and Girls Club of Lynn on North Common Street, is set for April 22-24 and April 29-30.
The New England King of the Ring Championship is expected to draw boxers from all over the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico and will have seven divisions for ages 8 and up.
The divisions and weight classes are:
Pee Wee (ages 8, 9, and 10), Bantam (11 and 12) and Intermediate (13 and 14)
Weight classes up to 95 pounds will be separated by five pounds (55, 60, 65, etc.).
Weight classes over 95 pounds are 101, 106, 110, 114, 119, 125, 132, 138, 145, 154, and 154-plus.
Junior (ages 15 and 16)
Weight classes up to 95 pounds will be separated by five pounds (55, 60, 65, etc.).
Weight classes over 95lbs are 101, 106, 110, 114, 119, 125, 132, 138, 145, 154, 154, 165, 176, and 176-plus.
Youth (ages 17 and 18)
Male Weight Classes
106, 112, 119, 125, 132, 139, 147, 156, 165, 176, 189, 203, and 203-plus
Female Weight Classes
106, 110, 115, 119, 125, 132, 139, 146, 154, 165, 178, and 178-plus
Novice and Elite (ages 19 to 40); 18-year-olds may also compete as Novice or Elite) and Masters (ages 41 and older)
Novice = 0 to 9 fights; Elite = 10 or more fights
Men’s Weight Classes
106, 112, 119, 125, 132, 139, 147, 156, 165, 176,189, 203, and 203-plus
Women’s Weight Classes
106, 110, 115, 119, 125, 132, 139, 146, 154, 165,178, and 178-plus
The deadline to register is Saturday, April 16. Those registering will need a 2022 USA Boxing membership, a birth certificate and an up-to-date physical in order to participate.
The first four boxers per weight class will be admitted, while the remaining boxers will be waitlisted.
All proceeds from the ticket sales of New England King of the Ring will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Lynn and Private Jewels Boxing Club’s Olympic and Educational Boxing Program.
