The Lynn Jets lacrosse team battled through a back-and-forth game Tuesday morning at Manning Field, eventually coming away with a 6-5 victory over Malden in a Greater Boston League bout.
“It was great to see the guys battle back after falling behind early,” said Lynn coach Peter Pappagianopoulos. “It was a nice team win for us.”
The Jets had three players score two goals apiece in the victory, with Stevan Downey, Steven Difilippo and Nick Costa all finding the back of the net. Jayden LeBlanc played lock-down defense on Malden’s top scorer all day long, while goalie Nate Sisson made key saves down the stretch to keep the Jets ahead.
Lynn (3-2) is now off for more than a week before getting back in action next Thursday (4) on the road at Medford.
BOYS LACROSSE
Lynnfield 11, Wilmington 4
Will Steadman led the offensive attack in the victory, notching three goals and two assists. Jack Calichman (two goals, three assists) and Drew Damiani (two goals, three assists) also had five-point efforts, while Will Norton finished the game with three goals. Janssen Sperling added one goal and one assist, while Owen Considine had one assist. Goalie Ben Pimental picked up 10 saves in the winning effort.
Lynnfield (3-1) returns home to Pioneer Stadium Thursday (11) for a home game against non-league foe Wakfield.
Staples 14, St. John’s Prep 9
The Eagles couldn’t make their trip down the Westport, Conn. count on Tuesday afternoon, falling behind the Wreckers in the opening minutes and never recovering.
Jimmy Ayers scored three goals to lead the way in the losing effort, while Luca Winter scored two goals. Jake Vana had one goal and three assists, while Will Sawyer had one goal and one assist. Rowan Mondello and Matt Morrow each scored one goal, while goalie Teddy Cullinane made 14 saves.
St. John’s Prep (5-2) will try to rebound Thursday morning (11) against Lexington in the opening round of the Creators Crosse Tournament at Franklin High School.
Swampscott 4, Danvers 3 (2OT)
Zach Pierce scored the game-winning goal and also added an assist in the victory for the Big Blue, while Jack Russo led the way with two goals. Harrison Kinne scored one goal, while Liam Herlihy had one assist. Goalie Aidan Breault made 14 saves to help the Big Blue earn the win.
Swampscott (2-3) plays on the road at Beverly Thursday morning (10).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Reading 14, Marblehead 6
Hadley Wales led the way with two goals and two assists, while Sydney Langton added two goals. Gigi Lombardi had one goal and one assist, Isabelle Ferrante scored one goal and goalie Kate Santeusanio made eight saves.
Marblehead (2-5) travels to Danvers Thursday morning (10).
BOYS OUTDOOR TRACK
St. Mary’s 105, Arlington Catholic 17
The Spartans had three double-winners to help take home the victory. Jesse Moriello won the 800-meter (2:19.6) and the 400 hurdles (1:07.3), while Anthony D’Itria won both the high jump (5-10) and the 400 dash (55.8). The third double-winner was Dylan Moroney, who won the long jump (18-8) and the 200 (25.5).

Arlington Catholic 64, St. Mary’s 49
Despite the loss, the Spartans got strong performances from Kelsey Kwiatek in the one-mile (6:04.4), Kaelyn Jennings in the javelin (74-11) and Tina Amin in the 200 (31.8).
