School Sports Roundup: Peabody softball takes down Danvers

The Peabody softball team had the long ball working all afternoon Friday, as the Tanners got home runs from Emma Bloom and Penny Spack in an 11-6 win over Danvers at Kiley Brothers Field. Gina Terrazzano also hit a ball over the fence in the win, but it was ruled that she missed home plate on the celebration and was granted a triple instead. 

Spack had three RBI in the win, while Bloom notched two RBI. Logan Lomasney and Abby Bettencourt also contributed RBI in the win.

Bettencourt earned the win in the circle for the Tanners, pitching a complete game. 

Peabody (8-1) travels to Masconomet Monday (4:30).

SOFTBALL

Saugus 16, Winthrop 4 (F/5)

Felicia Reppucci and Devany Millerick each went 3-for-5 with two RBI in the victory for the Sachems, while Taylor Deleidi went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Nicolette Costa went 1-for-1 in the win, while Paige Hogan recorded her first career varsity hit. 

In the circle, it was ace Fallon Millerick who picked up the win after tossing all five innings and allowing four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. 

Saugus (5-4) travels to Melrose Monday (4).

Gloucester 8, Marblehead 1

Marblehead (3-6) plays on the road at Hamilton-Wenham Monday (4).

BASEBALL

Peabody 3, Salem 1

The Tanners got a complete-game performance from Cam Connolly on the mound, who allowed one run on six hits with eight strikeouts in the win.

Brendan Smith went 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBI, while Sam Oliveri went 2-for-3 with one run scored. Mike Krouse and Josh Sigmon each had a hit. 

Peabody (6-4) hosts Masconomet under the lights Monday night (7).

Jack Doyle went five innings for Salem and allowed two runs while striking out seven, and he also went 2-for-3 with a double at the plate. Rocco Ryan (2-for-3, double), Riley Fenerty (1-for-3) and Corey Grimes (1-for-3) also had hits, while Robert Palacios pitched one inning in his first game back from a hamstring injury.

Salem (0-7) travels to Somerville Tuesday (4).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Peabody 16, Danvers 6

The Tanners picked up a big league win behind five goals and five assists from Brooke Lomasney. 

Lauren Woods added four goals and one assist in the win, while McKayla Fisher and Siobhan Smith each scored two goals. Madi Barrett had one goal and three assists, Ally Bettencourt had one goal and two assists and Maia Davis had one goal (her first varsity tally) and one assist. Goalie Caitlin Snow came up big in net with a number of key saves.

Peabody (5-2) hosts Winthrop Thursday (4).

BOYS TENNIS

Marblehead 5, Salem 0

The Magicians got wins in singles play from Jack Donovan (6-0, 6-1), Dwight Foster (6-0, 6-0) and Etan Farfel (6-0, 6-0). In doubles play the team of Nate Bowden and Connor Shervory (6-1, 6-0) and the team of Holt Sedky and Hogan Sedky (6-1, 6-0) both picked up wins. 

Marblehead (6-4) hosts Masconomet Wednesday (4).

GIRLS TENNIS

Marblehead 5, Salem 0

Winners for the Magicians were Maddie Conlon (6-2, 6-0), Charly Cooper (6-0, 6-0) and Lucia Levin (6-3, 6-0) in singles play, while the doubles teams of Aiofe Breshnahan-Andrea Potvin (6-0, 6-0) and Camille Eagan-Stella Monaco (6-0, 6-1) also picked up wins. 

Marblehead (5-2 OR 4-3) travels to Saugus Tuesday (4).
