DANVERS — The St. John’s Prep baseball team had it all working Friday afternoon, as the Eagles rolled to a 10-0 win in five innings over St. Paul (Worcester) in a non-league bout at Pete Frates Field.

Kyle Webster had the hottest bat of all for the Prep, going 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBI to lead the way. Payton Palladino went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while Nick Solitro (2-for-2), Tucker Larson (2-for-2), Aidan Driscoll (1-for-1, double) and Cam LaGrassa (1-for-3) each had one RBI.

The Eagles used three pitchers to cruise through the short outing, with Connor Remley picking up the start and the win. Remley went 3 2/3 innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four. Cam Wodarski and Griffin Callanan each pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief, and neither allowed a hit.

St. John’s Prep didn’t waste any time once it got the bats in its hands, as Shane Williams led off with a single and was then immediately doubled home by Driscoll. Webster followed with an RBI double of his own, then Solitro singled Webster home and Palladino doubled Solitro home. In the blink of an eye, the score was 4-0 Eagles.

The Prep picked up one more run that inning when Palladino stole home, then the Eagles got right back to work in the bottom of the second. After Driscoll led off with a walk, Webster smashed yet another RBI double to make it a 6-0 game. Three batters later, Larson’s RBI single brought Webster home. After picking up another run on an error, the Eagles held an 8-0 lead after two innings.

The Eagles rounded out the scoring in the bottom of the third, when RBI singles from Palladino and LaGrassa extended the lead out to 10-0. It was only a matter of time from there, as the Prep relief pitchers worked through the order in the top of the fourth and the top of the fifth to secure the victory.

St. John’s Prep (6-4) hosts Malden Catholic Monday (4).
