Letter: Thank you, Lynn police, Officer Dupuis

The Editors

May 4, 2022 by The Editors

To the editor:

Thank you to all the first responders, Lynn Police, emergency-medical technicians, Behavioral Health Unit workers, and paramedics regarding a recent wellness check.

They were all very professional; however, I must point out the actions of the first officer that arrived on scene.

Officer Devon Dupuis arrived with an officer that had been on the force for two weeks. I met them outside and gave a brief history of the individual who was mentally challenged.

Officer Dupuis requested emergency medical assistance, as well as a sergeant who arrived shortly and requested the Behavioral Health Unit, which then alerted paramedics.

I was taken aback by Officer Dupuis’ patience and calm, gentle and caring demeanor throughout a two-hour ordeal in which there were some tense moments.

With all the negative reports regarding the police, the incident which I witnessed should, in my opinion, be featured in a police recruit training video. It would certainly be a learning experience.

Officer Dupuis is a credit to the LPD, and police across Massachusetts.
