School Sports Roundup: Swampscott girls lacrosse slips past Beverly

Coco Clopton scored the game-winning goal with 30 seconds to play as the Swampscott girls lacrosse team picked up a 15-14 win over Beverly in a Northeastern Conference bout at Blocksidge Field Wednesday afternoon.

Clopton finished the game with four goals and two assists, while Scarlett Ciciotti and Brooke Waters each also put up four goals and two assists. Abby Eichler added two goals and two assists, while Broghan Laundry notched one goal and three assists. Goalie Sasha Divall recorded nine saves to earn the win in net. 

Swampscott (5-2) turns right around and plays a road game against Saugus Thursday (4:30).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Bishop Fenwick 13, St. Mary’s 5

The score was knotted at 5-5 at halftime before the Crusaders went on a run of eight unanswered goals in the second half to take home the victory.

Karina Gyllenhaal had three goals and one assist to lead the offensive attack, while Sam Montecalvo, Kayla Carlin and Kylie Bloom each scored two goals. Ella Morgan added one goal in the win. 

Bishop Fenwick (6-6) travels to Matignon Friday (4).

Ava Nason scored two goals to lead the Spartans’ offense in the loss, while goalie Payton Quirk played well in net with 13 saves. 

St. Mary’s (2-7) has a quick turnaround with a road game against St. Joseph Prep Thursday (3:30).

Lynnfield 10, North Reading 9 (OT)

The Pioneers picked up the thrilling overtime win behind a five-goal effort from senior captain Anna Kaminski. Freshman Sarah Powers added three goals, while junior Chloe Considine and freshman Taylor Valiton each scored one goal. Goalie Sarah Degenero made 12 saves to earn the win in net. 

Lynnfield (3-5) plays on the road at Manchester-Essex Friday (7).

BOYS LACROSSE

Swampscott 7, Manchester-Essex 4

Jack Russo was the star of the night for the Big Blue, netting five goals to pace the offense in the win. Liam Keaney had one goal and one assist, while Carson Palmer scored one goal. Liam Herilhy had one assist, while goalie Aidan Breault made 14 saves in the victory.

Swampscott (5-6) has a quick turnaround with a home game against Saugus Thursday (4).

Lynn 10, Somerville 5

Stevan Downey led the offense for Lynn with three goals and one assist, while Ethan Wilson was close behind with two goals and one assist. Ryan Dunn and Nick Costa each scored two goals, while Ian Brown notched one goal. 

Lynn (4-3) is right back in action Thursday (4) on the road at Matignon.

Bishop Fenwick 6, St. Mary’s 5 (OT)

Brady Ayles and Joey Calder each scored two goals in the loss for the Spartans, while Seamus Foley added one goal. 

St. Mary’s (3-7) is now off until Monday (4), when it travels to Austin Prep.

Bishop Fenwick (7-5) hosts Peabody Friday evening (6).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Revere 3, Arlington 2

Revere (9-4) hosts Boston Latin Monday (5).

BOYS OUTDOOR TRACK

Everett 78, Lynn Classical 56

Kymani Phipps was a double-winner for the Rams, taking first in the high jump (5-0) and the 110 hurdles (19.0). Other winners for Classical were John Nasky in the triple jump (36-5), Jieren Mireles in the 400 (57.6), Christian Gonzalez in the one-mile (5:27.8) and Kevin Baker in the two-mile (11:49.2). 

Lynn Classical (0-3) runs against Malden Tuesday (4).

GIRLS OUTDOOR TRACK

Everett 83, Lynn Classical 51

The Rams got wins from Delaney Dana in the 100 (13.6), Mia Kebreau in the 400 (1:11.6), Sabrina Ossambo Da Silva in the 800 (2:59.3), Olivia Waterman in the one-mile (6:20.6) and Rocio Garcia De Leon in the two-mile (16:08.5). 

Lynn Classical (1-2) runs against Malden Tuesday (4).
