To the editor:
This letter is in response to the letter in the Daily Item (May 5) from John J. Kwiatek, who is against abortion and professes to know what is moral or not.
The reality is that some women have always sought to end unwanted pregnancies. There will always be some women who will need and want to end pregnancies based on their particular circumstances.
It is a woman’s right as an individual to be her own moral agent. It is her right to make her own reproductive-health decisions and to control her own body.
Every person must be his or her or their own moral agent.
If you are a woman and against abortion, don’t have one.
Furthermore, whether you are male or female, if you are working actively to prevent women from making any and all decisions regarding their individual reproductive health, how many unwanted babies are you personally committed to adopting and bringing up until they are at least 18 years of age? Three? Six? 10 or more?
None? Then spare me your moral absolutism and mind your own business.
