The St. John’s Prep lacrosse team wanted to leave no doubt about who the hottest team in the Catholic Conference is, knocking off BC High by a score of 16-4 in a clash at Glatz Field Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Eagles have now notched seven victories in a row.
Harlan Graber led the offensive attack with four goals, while Jimmy Ayers had a big day with three goals and three assists. Charlie Wilmot added three goals, while Jake Vana had two goals and two assists. Tommy Sarni scored two goals, while Lucas Verrier had two assists and Chris Esposito had one assist. Esposito also went 13-for-20 in the faceoff circle, while Jack Doherty went 2-for-4. Goalie Teddy Cullinane finished the night with 13 saves.
St. John’s Prep (12-2) now has nearly a week off before hosting Catholic Memorial Tuesday (5:30).
BOYS LACROSSE
Arlington Catholic 8, St. Mary’s 4
The Spartans got one goal each from Mike Calder, Sam York, Brady Ayles and Anthony Palmer in the loss at Manning Field.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Arlington Catholic 16, St. Mary’s 8
Hannah Coleman and Avery Laundry each scored four goals despite the loss, while Jillian Kirby notched two assists and Molly Cummings added one assist. Goalie Payton Quirk had a big night with 16 saves in net.

BASEBALL
BC High 6, St. John’s Prep 4
The Eagles made a valiant effort to come back from five runs down in the seventh inning, but they came up just short.
Tucker Larson went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI in the loss, while Kyle Webster went 0-for-2 with one RBI.
Connor Remley suffered the loss on the mound after going five innings and allowing four runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Cam Wodarski and Drew McGowan each pitched an inning of relief and each gave up one run on one hit.

St. Mary’s 4, Arlington Catholic 3
The Spartans rattled off two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to steal a close win at Fraser Field.
Jason Donohue had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBI to pace the offense. Tad Giardina went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI, while Tommy Falasca went 1-for-3 with a double.
Josh Doney earned the win in relief after tossing three innings and allowing one run on three hits with three strikeouts. John Nowicki got the start and went three innings, allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts. Eric Bridges grabbed the save after pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

Salem 4, Winthrop 3
The Witches scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off for their first win of the season Tuesday.

Colin Kinsella (0-for-2) had one RBI for the Vikings, while Pete Silverman went 2-for-3 and Matt DeCarney went 1-for-3.

Cam Soroko had the only two hits in the loss for the Sachems, going 2-for-3 with a double.
Ryan Mabee took the loss on the mound after going 5 2/3 innings and allowing three runs on nine hits with one strikeout. Matt MacEachern pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Swampscott 12, Peabody 3
Cam O’Brien had two hits and notched three RBI to help lead the Big Blue to victory, while Harry Riddell had three hits — including two doubles — and added one RBI. Joseph Ford and Connor Correnti each had one RBI, while Aidan Wyse added two hits.
Pierce Friedman got the win on the mound, going six innings and allowing three runs on two hits with 13 strikeouts.

St. Mary’s 10, Arlington Catholic 0
Lily Newhall dominated in the circle for the Spartans, tossing a complete-game two-hitter and striking out nine. She also contributed at the plate, going 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
Emely Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while Ryleigh Williams went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Jenna Chaplain went 2-for-4 with a triple, while Ashanthy Pardilla went 2-for-4 with a double.

Bishop Fenwick 2, Austin Prep 1
The Crusaders were able to push across two runs in the top of the seventh inning and then hang on to notch the close victory on the road.

Kiley Doolin knocked an RBI sacrifice fly in the third inning and that was enough to put the Tanners over the edge Tuesday.
Abby Bettencourt was stellar in the circle for Peabody, pitching a complete-game three-hitter and striking out 13.

Saugus 3, Masconomet 2
The Sachems were getting no-hit until the sixth inning, but they still rallied for the come-from-behind win.
Fallon Millerick pitched a complete game in the circle to earn the win, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts. She also went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI at the plate.
Ava Rogers and Caitlyn Pugh each went 1-for-3 with one RBI, while Taylor Deleidi went 2-for-3 and Gianna Costa went 1-for-3.
Saugus (7-5) has a quick turnaround with a home game against Peabody Thursday (4).
Swampscott 6, Salem 3
Nicolette Fraser went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the win for the Big Blue, while Miranda Moscoso, Jen Bartram and Hannah Burns each had one RBI.
Jocelyn Spickard picked up the win in the circle after a complete-game effort, allowing three runs on four hits with 14 strikeouts.

Winners for the Bulldogs were Edward Salazar (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and Owen Velez (6-0, 2-6, 7-6) in singles play as well as the team of Jordan Alas and Ethan Chilel (6-3, 6-3) in doubles play.

The Big Blue got wins from Tate Greenfield (7-6, 6-0) and Charles Schepens (6-3, 6-1) in singles play, while the doubles team of Nick Custer and Colin Masucci (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) also earned a win.

The Magicians got a singles win from Aidan Ryan (6-3, default) and a doubles win from the team of Etan Farfel and Jayden Janock (7-5, 6-2).

The Spartans swept doubles play to earn the win, getting victories from the team of Dion Sacca and Chris Lutchman (6-4, 6-3) and the team of Griffin L’Italien and Dan Pimentel (6-1, 6-2). St. Mary’s also got a singles win from Connor Hamel (6-3, 6-1).

Lynn Classical 4, Lynn English 1
The Rams swept singles play with wins from Kenzie McLaren (6-1, 6-0), Alyssa Raithel (6-2, 6-3) and Linda Jallow (6-0, 6-0). The doubles team of Khunnary Thatch and Destiny Egbuta (6-1, 6-0) was also victorious.
Lynn Classical (5-5) hosts Revere Thursday (4).

Marblehead 3, Swampscott 2
The Magicians got singles wins from Alessandra Staffialini (6-3, 6-1) and Ella Kramer (6-2, 6-1), while the doubles team of Aoife Bresnahan and Courtney Yoder (6-3, 7-5) put them over the edge.

The singles win for Swampscott came from Clara Power (2-6, default), while the doubles win came from the team of Anna Ratner and Anastasia Shub (6-4, 7-5).
