SWAMPSCOTT — Things just didn’t go the Swampscott softball team’s way Friday afternoon, as the Big Blue simply couldn’t slow down a high-powered Danvers offense in a 23-2 loss in five innings at Forest Avenue Park.
Miranda Moscoso went 1-for-2 with one RBI in the loss for Swampscott, while Angela Spanathas went 0-for-2 with one RBI. Nicolette Fraser (1-for-2, triple) had the only other hit for the Big Blue.
Melanie Blood took the loss in the circle after going three innings and striking out one, while Jocelyn Spickard went the final two innings and struck out four.
For Danvers, Emily Goddard went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and five RBI to lead the offense. Ava Gray went 3-for-5 with two triples and four RBI, while Lauren Ahearn went 4-for-5 with four RBI. Sophia Papamechail went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
Skylar Coakley picked up the win in the circle after going all five innings and allowing two runs on two hits with eight strikeouts.
Danvers (6-7) hosts Winthrop Monday (4).
Swampscott (6-6) hosts Masconomet Wednesday (4).
