WINTHROP — The Peabody girls lacrosse team kept up its streak of red-hot play Saturday afternoon, as the Tanners went on the road at Winthrop and rolled to a 20-7 win over the Vikings at Miller Field.
With the victory, Peabody has now rattled off seven wins in its past eight games and has secured a state tournament spot for itself.
The Tanners got plenty of contributions on the offensive side of the field, with Madi Barrett leading the attack with five goals and three assists. Brooke Lomasney controbited four goals and four assists, while Katie Amico was close behind with three goals and three assists. Ally Bettencourt added three goals and two assists, while Lauren Woods had two goals and three assists. Emily McDonough, Kayla Landry and Sam Rowe each scored one goal, while Siobhan Smith notched one assist.
Amico, Smith, Lomasney and Bettencourt dominated the faceoff circle with a number of draw controls, while McDonough and Lomasney led the defense with four forced turnovers each. Barrett and Kayla Landry each forced two turnovers, while Rowe, Woods, Ava Ruffing and Addi Higgins each forced one turnover.
Goalie Caitlin Snow also had a big day in net, recording five saves to earn the win.
Winthrop (5-8) travels to Swampscott Tuesday (4).
Peabody (10-3) plays on the road at Marblehead Monday (4).
