The St. John’s Prep baseball team notched two runs in the top of the seventh and then held on for a 5-3 come-from-behind win over Malden Catholic Wednesday afternoon.
Caleb Birchem went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBI to lead the offense, while Victor Harrington went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Shane Williams went 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI, while Drew McGowan went 2-for-3 and Aidan Driscoll went 1-for-4 with a double.
Connor Remley picked up the victory on the mound after tossing a complete game and allowing three runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts.
St. John’s Prep (9-7) is off until Monday (7) when it takes on St. Mary’s.
BASEBALL
Bishop Feehan 4, St. Mary’s 3
The Spartans came up on the wrong end of a walk-off on the road Wednesday.
John Nowicki went 1-for-3 with two RBI to lead the way, while Aiven Cabral went 0-for-2 with one RBI. Jason Donohue, Jack Marks and Cam McGonagle all had hits in the loss.
Eric Bridges took the loss on the mound, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
St. Mary’s (9-8) hosts Masconomet Saturday evening (6).
Winthrop 4, Peabody 3
The Vikings picked up a key league win in walk-off fashion Wednesday, as Joe Hayes notched an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to hand the Vikings the win at Veterans Field.
Hayes went 1-for-2 with one RBI for Winthrop, while Matt DeCarney went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the way. Colin Kinsella went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI, while Pete Silverman (2-for-3) and Anthony Indrisano (1-for-1) also had hits.
Jay Fotiades got the win in relief after pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings, while Cam Martin went the first 5 1/3 innings and struck out eight.
Winthrop (8-9) travels to Swampscott Friday (6:30).
Peabody (8-8) hosts Marblehead Friday (4).
Marblehead 10, Salem 3
Liam McIlroy went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Schuyler Schmitt went 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. Shane Keough, Brady Lavender, Andy Titus, James Doody and AJ Andriano each had one RBI to help the Magicians.
Marblehead (8-6) travels to Peabody Friday (4).
Jon Wasserman led the Witches by going 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and one RBI, while Robert Palacios went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Salem (1-12) travels to Danvers Monday (6:30).

Tyler Wilson went 3-for-3 with a home run, one RBI and three runs scored, while Kyle Durant went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Almani Medina went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, while Kevin Whalen, Brady Warren, Ethan Chavalier, Ryan Crichton, Yassine Bakhouch, Darnell Leon and Christian Figueroa each had a hit.
Lynn Classical (14-3) is now off until Monday (4) on the road at Reading.
Beverly 6, Saugus 1
Anthony Cicolini went 2-for-3 to lead the Sachems’ offense, while Cam Soroko and Anthony Macone each had one hit.
Saugus (8-8) hosts Gloucester Thursday (4:30).

Lynn Classical 17, Chelsea 0 (F/5)
MeKayla Poisson had a huge day all over the field for the Rams, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBI at the plate and striking out 13 batters in a complete-game effort in the circle.
Nevaeh Eth went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI in the win, while Izzy Faessler had a home run and one RBI. Rachel Dana and Amanda Tobin each had one RBI in the win.

Masconomet 14, Swampscott 3
Nicolette Fraser went 2-for-3 with two home runs and two RBI in the loss, while Megan Holmes went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.

Drew Damiani exploded for six goals in the winning effort, while Will Steadman had three goals and three assists. Kelan Cardinal notched two goals and one assist, Janssen Sperling scored two goals and Will Norton had one goal and one assist. Jack Calichman notched six assists, while Owen Considine had one assist and goalie Ben Pimentel made seven saves.
Lynnfield (11-3) travels to Newburyport Friday (4).
Lynn 8, Revere 0
The Jets were led by a three-goal effort from Nick Costa, while Ryan Dunn and Steven Difilippo each scored two goals and Stevan Downey scored one goal.

St. Mary’s 12, Cardinal Spellman 7
The Spartans celebrated their Senior Day in style with their third straight win.
Hannah Coleman led the way with four goals, while Ava Nason had two goals and one assist. Avery Laundry, Molly Cummings, Chloe Puzzo, Kasey Litwin and Gabbi Oakes each had one goal and one assist. Jillian Kirby notched one goal, while Maggie Pierce and Samira Krol each had one assist. Goalie Payton Quirk notched 15 saves to earn the win in net.
St. Mary’s (6-10-1) travels to Essex Tech Thursday (4).
Saugus 7, Northeast 2
Kali Penachio and Georgia Fiore each scored two goals, while Amanda DeFronzo, Sophia Scalisi and Tayla Walsh each scored one goal.
Saugus (3-15) plays on the road at Beverly Thursday (4) to close the season.

Marblehead 4, Latin Academy 1
The Magicians swept singles play with wins from Mika Garber (6-1, 6-1), Guillermo Jimenez-Herreria (6-1, 7-5) and Matthew Sherf (6-1, 6-2) and a doubles win from the team of Etan Farfel and Aidan Ryan (6-3, 6-3).
Marblehead (10-6) hosts Masconomet Friday (4).
Medford 3, Lynn Classical 2
The Rams got a singles win from Sammi Motassim (7-6, 7-6) and a doubles win from the team of Marcus Ryan and Jaeel Beato (6-1, 6-2).
Lynn Classical closes the season at 3-9.

The Big Blue got singles wins from Veronika Isagulyan (6-2, 6-4), Laine Foutes (2-6, 7-6, 10-7) and Victoria Quagrello (6-1, 6-0) and doubles wins from the team of Anna Ratner and Anastasia Shub (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) and the team of Franci Southan and Sydney Antonelli (6-2, 6-0).
Swampscott (7-8) travels to Salem Friday (4).

Classical swept singles play with wins from Kenzie McLaren (6-4, 6-4), Alyssa Raithel (6-1, 6-3) and Linda Jallow (6-1, 7-6) and got a doubles win from the team of Khunnary Thatch and Jauselin Mensah (6-2, 7-5).
Lynn Classical closes the season at 8-5 and now looks ahead to the state tournament.

The Pioneers swept singles play with wins from Paige Martino (6-4, 6-4), Anna Radulski (6-2, 6-2) and Genna Gioioso (6-0, 6-0).
