Swampscott native and Endicott College junior Katie Watts was one of six Gulls softball players to earn National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honors when the awards were announced this week. Watts was named to the Region II All-Region Second Team.
Watts, a former star at Swampscott High who was also named to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Second Team this year, played in 45 games this year and batted an eye-popping .371 with three home runs and 23 RBI. She only struck out seven times in 143 at-bats, notching 53 total hits, 10 doubles and 33 runs scored. She also stole six bases, had an on-base percentage of .431 and a slugging percentage of .517.
The Gulls finished the year 32-13 overall and 15-3 in CCC play and captured their third straight CCC Championship with a sweep over Western New England on May 7.
