Buy a brick for Classical

May 23, 2022 by Allysha Dunnigan

LYNN — The Alumni and Friends of Lynn Classical High School (LCHS) have launched a new fundraiser to raise money for scholarships for LCHS graduating seniors.

This “Buy- A-Brick for Scholarships” fundraising campaign allows interested donors to buy bricks online with the option to add engraved text and images.

The bricks will be installed on the outside walkway near the main entrance at Classical.

Gene Constantino, the Alumni and Friends’ President and former LCHS principal, said he thinks this fundraiser has “massive potential.”

“We always want donors to know how important their contributions are,” said Constantino. “In this case, we are able to provide them with a tangible, long-lasting token of appreciation.”

A 4×8 in. brick is $100, an 8×8 in. brick is $200, and a business brick — which allows the donor to engrave their own custom logo — is $300.

All proceeds will directly benefit the group’s scholarship program to graduating LCHS seniors.

The Alumni and Friends of LCHS has given out more than $1.2 million in scholarships since its inception in 1996.

In 2022 alone, they are awarding 117 scholarships to students, totaling more than $117,000.

For this “Buy- A-Brick for Scholarships” fundraiser, the alumni group encourages anyone with a connection to LCHS or the city — including alumni, families, staff, businesses, community groups, and elected officials — to consider purchasing a brick.

The alumni group also said they would like to see people collaborate and dedicate bricks to shared experiences, such as a graduating class, memorable sports teams or clubs, favorite teachers or classes, or unforgettable school trips and moments.

“We really want people to get creative,” said Constantino.

Alumni and Friends of LCHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting and assisting LCHS students in achieving a higher education.
