The St. Mary’s softball team got contributions from all three of its seniors on Senior Day Tuesday afternoon, scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away for a 5-0 win over Gloucester in a non-conference game at Breed Middle School.
Prior to the game, the Spartans honored their group of three seniors — Lily Newhall, Emely Rodriguez and Jill Kirby — for their contributions to the program over the years.
As far as the on-field action, Newhall dominated the day from the pitcher’s circle. She fired a complete-game one-hitter in the victory, striking out eight batters. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate.
Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with one RBI in the win, while Kirby went 0-for-3 with one run scored. Jenna Chaplain had a big day, leading the offense by going 3-for-4 with a triple and one RBI. Brooke Moloney and Anna Fringuelli each had a hit in the victory.
St. Mary’s (15-3) hosts Lynn Classical in the opening round of the John Holland Memorial Tournament Saturday (4).
SOFTBALL
Saugus 2, Melrose 0
It was a big day for Fallon Millerick, who tossed a complete-game shutout in the circle and allowed just four hits while striking out four. She also went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored at the plate.
Lily Ventre and Gianna Costa each went 1-for-3 with one RBI in the victory, while Felicia Reppucci, Ava Rogers and Kaitlyn Pugh each had a hit. Devany Millerick and Ryann Moloney both played well defensively.
Saugus (12-7) closes out the regular season with a road game against Marblehead Friday (4:30).

Grace Martin pitched well in the victory, allowing four runs on six hits with four strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

BASEBALL
North Reading 6, Lynnfield 2
Alex Gentile went 1-for-4 with one RBI in the loss, while Dan Dorman went 0-for-3 with one RBI. Jake Mallett went 2-for-3, while Spencer Riley, Henry Caulfield and Nick Razzaboni each had a hit in the loss.
Ben Mullin took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs on nine hits with four strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
Lynnfield (6-13) takes on Burlington in the opening round of the Brendan Grant Memorial Tournament Friday (4:30) at Belmont High School.

Drew Damiani scored seven goals and added two assists to lead the way — netting his 50th goal of the season in the process.
Jack Calichman added three goals and five assists, while Kelan Cardinal had two goals and two assists. Will Steadman scored two goals, while Janssen Sperling and Steven Dreher each had one goal. Will Norton notched one assist.
Lynnfield (13-4) now has a full week off before hosting Bishop Fenwick next Wednesday (3:45) to close the regular season.

St. Mary’s wraps up the season at 3-14.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Peabody 12, Ipswich 10
McKayla Fisher and Brooke Lomasney both cracked the 100-point barrier for their careers in the victory, while goalie Caitlin Snow made her 100th career save.
Fisher had four goals and two assists to pace the offense, while Lomasney and Ally Bettencourt each had three goals and three assists. McKenna Forni added one goal and two assists, while Lauren Woods scored one goal. Madi Barrett and Katie Amico each had one assist, while Snow made nine saves to earn the win in net.
Peabody (14-3) hosts Dracut Thursday (4).
BOYS TENNIS
Marblehead 5, Gloucester 0
Winners for the Magicians were Mika Garber (6-2, 6-2), Guillermo Jimenez-Herreria (6-3, 6-3) and Kipp Schauder (3-6, 7-5, 10-8) in singles play, while the doubles teams of Jack Donovan and Dwight Foster (6-2, 4-6, 6-2) and Jack Fobert and Nate Bowden (6-3, 6-4) also grabbed wins.
Marblehead closes the year at 12-6.
GIRLS TENNIS
Newburyport 4, Lynnfield 1
The lone winner on the day for the Pioneers was Anna Radulski, who picked up a win in second singles by set scores of 6-1, 6-1.

The Magicians got singles wins from Alessandra Staffialini (6-0, 6-0), Maddie Conlon (6-1, 6-1) and Andrea Potvin (6-0, 6-0), while the doubles teams of Camille Eagan and Stella Monaco (6-4, 6-2) and the team of Sarah Gold and Amelia Singer (7-6 (7-4), 6-1) also picked up wins.
“All the girls have really improved over the course of the season,” said Marblehead coach Tracy Ackerman. “It will be exciting to see if we can make some noise in the state tournament.”
Marblehead (12-5) hosts Lynnfield Wednesday (4) in its regular season finale.
