SWAMPSCOTT — The Swampscott boys lacrosse team put an exclamation mark on its regular season Tuesday afternoon, scoring early and often in a 20-0 blowout win over Salem in a Northeastern Conference battle at Blocksidge Field.

The Big Blue’s potent offensive attack was led by Jason Codispoti, who finished the game with five goals and two assists. Liam Keaney also had a seven-point night after notching three goals and four assists, while Aidan Sprague added two goals and one assist and Thomas Mello and Zach Pierce each scored two goals. Christian Urbano had one goal and two assists, while Jack Hazel and Cole Hamernick each had one goal and one assist. Al Bangura, Dakoda Langevain and Drew McCathern each scored one goal, while Liam Herlihy had four assists. Gabe Tripp and Drew Hausse each had one assist.

Codispoti found the back of the net just 54 seconds into the game, and the scoring never stopped from there. The Big Blue led Salem 8-0 after one quarter and took a 14-0 lead into the halftime break. There was a running clock for the entire second half.

Salem (0-14) takes on Marblehead Thursday (5) in the penultimate game of its season.

Swampscott closes the regular season at 9-8 and now looks ahead to the Division 3 state tournament. The Big Blue are currently the No. 24 team in their division based on the latest MIAA power rankings, which were released Monday.
