Lynn Woods Summer Running kicks off 53rd season

Wednesday night kicked off the 53rd season of the Lynn Woods Summer Running series, as more than 150 runners came out for the opening series of races. 

As always, three races were run Wednesday evening — a kids race, a short race and a long race. 

In the 1.59-mile long kids race, the winner was Melrose’s Caroline Skeirik (14:21). Fellow Melrose native Caedmon Lohnes finished close behind in second place (14:23), while Stoneham’s Lauren Sloat (15:51), Lynn’s Sarah Terrien (15:59) and Lynnfield’s Julia Hutter (16:33) rounded out the top five. The rest of the top 10 was made up of Lynnfield’s Brian Hutter (16:33), Lynnfield’s Emily Conlon (16:55), Lynn’s Michael Conlon (16:55), Lynn’s Krista Cuozzo (16:57) and Lynn’s Andrew Lindsey (16:58).

In the 2.3-mile long race to Steel Tower, Melrose’s Daniel Skeirik took first place with a time of 16:01. The Lincoln duo of Emma Kjaersgaard and Frank Kjaersgaard took the next two spots with identical times of 16:23, while Lynn’s Franklin Maldonado (16:30) and Lynn’s Anthony Perez Aguilar (16:34) rounded out the top five. The rest of the top 10 was made up of Lynn’s Elijah Phommachanh (16:35), Melrose’s Andrew Skeirik (16:58), Lynn’s Edwin Gomez (17:10), Lynn’s Jason Osgood (17:15) and Lynn’s Bryan Robles (17:40).

The final race of the evening was a 4.6-mile track running out to Stone Tower and back, and it was won by Melrose’s Adam Cook with a time of 29:54. Lynn’s Matt Viega finished in second place (29:58), while Swampscott’s Nelson Knudsen (31:00), Amesbury’s William McClory (32:22) and Beverly’s Erich O’Neil (32:34) rounded out the top five. The rest of the top 10 was made up of Nahant’s Steve Dickenson (32:43), Lynn’s Nakri Dao (32:56), Lynn’s Nathan Hammerschmit (33:48), Boulder, Colo.’s Matthew Iarrobino (33:58) and Lynn’s Ian Edwards (34:12). 

Lynn Woods Summer Running is held at Lynn Woods every Wednesday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. from the last Wednesday in May until the last Wednesday in September.
