LYNN — Hundreds of city students gathered at City Hall Friday demanding change in the wake of this week’s school shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Texas that left 19 students and two teachers dead.
Mayor Jared Nicholson said students from Lynn Tech, Classical, and English were among those participating in the protest. They crowded the steps in front of City Hall, many of the students displaying signs that read “enough is enough,” and also asking when they would be safe.
“The students did a wonderful job stepping up and sharing their voices on an important issue in a way that was urgent, moving, and respectful,” Nicholson said. “We are proud of their advocacy for asking for change at the federal level. They really showed their leadership and are really thinking this through.
“I had great conversations with the student leaders and really appreciate being able to hear their concerns and priorities.”
Nicholson said the protest came on the heels of a similar protest Thursday by KIPP students.
