Nahant looking for an intern

Alena Kuzub

May 31, 2022 by Alena Kuzub

NAHANT — The Town Hall is looking for a social-media savvy paid intern this summer.

The Nahant Town Hall is seeking to hire a college-aged summer intern who would focus on improving the town’s communication and website, said Town Administrator Antonio Barletta.

“We are always trying to improve the ways that we communicate with the public,” Barletta said.

That is why the town is looking for someone with strong communication and computer skills who can help make access to information for the residents of Nahant as user friendly as possible. This would probably require improving the town’s use of Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, Barletta said.

The intern will primarily work with the town administrator’s office, but the work will also involve projects across every Town Hall department.

“It is a good opportunity to get some experience in government and the way that we operate,” said Barletta.

The job requirements include a high school degree or equivalent, at least 18 years of age, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The duties of the intern will include supervised updating and posting the town’s social media and website content, responding to web correspondence, preparing information for presentations, and performing basic clerical tasks like opening mail or answering phones. The intern might participate in special projects and events if needed.

The application period is open until June 30. This 20-hour plus internship will last until the individual needs to go back to school, and will pay from $14.25 to $17 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience.

“It is a really fun place to work,” Barletta said. “And it is on a pretty good schedule. The Town Hall closes at 12.30 p.m. on Fridays.”

Please send a cover letter and a resume to Kristin Taylor at [email protected].
