School Sports Roundup: St. John’s Prep lacrosse wins regular season finale

The St. John’s Prep lacrosse team started the season just as it began nearly two months ago, picking up a win. Thursday evening, the Eagles dispatched non-conference foe Billerica by a score of 9-5 on the road. 

The Eagles also had six players selected as Catholic Conference All-Stars prior to the game, with Jimmy Ayers, Tommy Sarni, Connor Kelly, Chris Esposito, Charlie Wilmot and Jake Vana all earning the honors. 

St. John’s Prep closes the regular season at 16-1 and now awaits its seeding in the upcoming Division 1 state tournament. The Eagles are currently the No. 1 team in the latest MIAA power rankings. 

BOYS LACROSSE

Marblehead 16, Wakefield 5

The Magicians closed out the season with a bang, jumping out to a 10-goal lead in the second half before coasting to a victory.

Connor Cronin had five goals and two assists to lead the scoring attack for Marblehead, but it was Josh Robertson who led the team in points after finishing with four goals and four assists. Carter Laramie added two goals and one assist, while Baxter Jennings scored two goals. Cole Gallup had one goal and one assist, while Cam Waldman and Kai Bontaides each scored one goal.

Marblehead closes the regular season at 15-3 and now awaits its seeding in the upcoming Division 2 state tournament. The Magicians are currently the No. 13 team in the latest MIAA power rankings. 

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pentucket 19, Swampscott 5

Broghan Laundry scored four goals in the loss for the Big Blue, while Abby Eichler added one goal. Coco Clopton and Daniella Bliss each had one assist, while goalie Sasha Divall made eight saves.

Swampscott closes the regular season at 10-6 and now awaits its seeding in the upcoming Division 3 state tournament. The Big Blue are currently the No. 14 team in the latest MIAA power rankings.
