Lynn Auditorium to debut ‘Disney PRIDE in Concert’

June 3, 2022 by Charlie McKenna

LYNN — The Lynn Auditorium will play host to the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus Sunday for a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Disney Concerts — a celebration of LGBTQ pride with Disney Music dubbed “Disney PRIDE in Concert.”

The concert, which is the chorus’ first in nearly two-and-a-half years, following a 30-month long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is being dedicated to Verny Samayoa, a Lynn resident and longtime AIDS advocate, who died at age 64 in 2019. At the time of his death, Samayoa was managing a Lynn outreach office for AIDS Action/Fenway Health.

“We are excited to bring the Boston Gay Men’s Concert to Lynn Auditorium for the third

time. The last two concerts were well received and with a Disney-themed show, we anticipate a full house. Lynn is doing its part to kick off Pride Month Activities on the North Shore,” said David Solimine Jr., who is helping underwrite the show.

Solimine’s family, along with Solimine Funeral Homes, is underwriting the show, along with Lucia Lighting & Design and Eastern Bank. Proceeds from the show will “benefit” AIDS Action/Fenway Health in honor of Samayoa.

“I am proud that the BGMC is coming to our city,” said Lynn Ward 3 City Councilor Constantino “Coco” Alinsug. “I am a fan of their work with the community using their voices and talents, not only to entertain, but to raise money to help a lot of groups and non-profits.”

Sunday’s show is a preview of the BGMC’s upcoming season, which will feature two other Disney PRIDE shows later this month at the Boston Symphony Hall.
