The MIAA released its state tournament brackets for the 2022 boys lacrosse season Friday afternoon, and the St. John’s Prep Eagles are leading the pack in Division 1.

The Prep enjoyed a 17-1 record and a Catholic Conference title during the regular season, and as such the Eagles were rewarded with the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. With that comes a first-round bye and home games throughout the tournament. The Eagles will face the winner of No. 32 Belmont and No. 33 Peabody in the Round of 32 at a date and time to be determined.

Speaking of Peabody, the Tanners picked up the No. 33 seed after a solid 9-7 season with a young roster. Peabody will play on the road in the preliminary round against No. 32 Belmont at a date and time to be determined.

A third local team — the Lynn Jets — also found its way into the Div. 1 bracket following an 8-6 season, earning the No. 35 seed. The Jets will go on the road for a game against No. 30 Newton South in the preliminary round at a date and time to be determined.

In the Div. 2 bracket, Marblehead jumped up a few spots on the final day of the season following a late-night win over fellow Div. 2 tournament participant Wakefield (No. 16). That win pushed the Magicians (15-3) to the No. 10 seed, giving them a first-round bye and a home game at Piper Field. The Magicians will host No. 23 Hopkinton in the Round of 32 at a date and time to be determined.

Danvers enjoyed a solid 12-6 season to pick up the No. 27 seed in Div. 2, which was good enough for a first-round bye. But the Falcons will need to go on the road in the Round of 32, traveling to No. 6 Nashoba at a date and time to be determined.

Over in Div. 3, Swampscott (9-8) finished in the middle of the pack and earned the No. 25 seed. The seeding earned the Big Blue a first-round bye, but they will have a tough test in the Round of 32 as they will go on the road to take on No. 8 Newburyport at a date and time to be determined.

Despite closing the regular season with a loss, Bishop Fenwick (8-10) found its way into the Div. 3 tournament with the No. 28 seed. The Crusaders also have a tough matchup in the Round of 32 after a first-round bye, as they will have to go on the road to face No. 5 Foxborough at a date and time to be determined.

Rounding out the local teams in tournament play is Lynnfield, with the Pioneers clocking in at No. 6 overall with a 14-4 record. Lynnfield has earned a first-round bye and already knows its first opponent. Lynnfield will face No. 27 Tri-County Regional in the Round of 32 at a date and time to be determined.
